Who qualifies for deferred action?

Individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Came to the U.S. while under the age of 16
  2. Have resided in the U.S. continuously since June 15, 2007 and were present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012
  3. Are currently in school, graduated from high school, obtained a GED, or honorably discharged from armed services
  4. Do not have a significant criminal record
  5. Are not above the age of 30

What are the benefits of deferred action?

  • Protection from initiation of deportation proceedings or being deported
  • Eligible to apply for a social security number
  • Eligible to apply for a work permit
  • Eligible to apply for a driver’s license or state identification
