Who qualifies for deferred action?
Individuals who meet all of the following criteria:
- Came to the U.S. while under the age of 16
- Have resided in the U.S. continuously since June 15, 2007 and were present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012
- Are currently in school, graduated from high school, obtained a GED, or honorably discharged from armed services
- Do not have a significant criminal record
- Are not above the age of 30
What are the benefits of deferred action?
- Protection from initiation of deportation proceedings or being deported
- Eligible to apply for a social security number
- Eligible to apply for a work permit
- Eligible to apply for a driver’s license or state identification
